Nakhchivan

Currently only accessible by flying from Baku yet packed with history and dazzling landscapes, the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan is Azerbaijan’s top off-the-beaten track destination. Here you can hear interesting legends, visit the region’s small new ski resort and try some of the quirkiest dishes of Azerbaijani cuisine. The prevailing continental climate gives the territory a completely different look and feel, with epic views at almost every turn. In between the Aras river snaking across the south and the luxuriant Lesser Caucasus Mountains stretches across the north, there are ochre-hued semi-deserts and rocky mountains.
